Talking and Homework
October 11, 2011
Next week students will be handing in their Reading Logs Wednesday. The Reading Log is a sheet of paper used to track the number of pages students have read over the past six weeks. All students are required to read a biography or autobiography of their choice so long as it is at least 100 pages and any other books they can finish within the given time period.
In addition, students will be expected to give a one to three minute speech on the biography or autobiography they read on either Thursday or Friday. Students will sign up for time slots on Monday or Tuesday next week. Students must turn in an outline to me before heading up to the front of the class. Each student will be able to use one 3x5 note card to help them on their speech.
Homework Club has rescheduled for the eighth grade. Originally, the math intensive portion of Homework Club was to be on Thursday. Unfortunately, the high school tutors will be unable to get to Creekside by 3:30. So, the teachers have moved the Thursday time slot to Wednesday. The tutors will be able to arrive at Creekside at 3:00 and provide an extra half hour of their time. It turns out to be a positive. Hopefully no one is inconvenienced due to the time change.
